Thistle's album cover and tattoo, for Thistle
Thistle writes music that's like her name: beautiful, tenacious, spiky, protective of what she loves. It's great passionate stuff. Her album, Animal Dreams, comes out June 10th.
Eventually you'll see a color version of this piece up here, because Thistle wants this to be a tattoo. Because this is art that one day may reside permanently on her body, we went through many revisions and rethinks, until the moment she said, "That's it!"--my favorite moment in a commission. I always feel very proud when I'm able to translate someone's vision onto the page.
This was also my first album cover, and I would like to do many more. We weren't perfectly happy with the printed result, largely because we had a lot to learn, but I would happily recommend Stumptown Printers to anyone interested in eco-friendly packaging.
