Artist's statement

Art saves lives.  When I lost the use of my hands through a workplace injury in 1999, I also lost my ability to support myself.  Unable to do anything, I found out what I wanted to do most.  I promised myself that if I healed I would dedicate myself to art and writing.  My hands are slowly healing and my spirit has never been in better health.

I paint and write about what I think is worth protecting: children, jokes, freedom of speech, gardens, good meals, the wild... I think that some art should provide people with a refuge—a stronghold of delight, of vibrant color and ingenious imagination.
